Coco Love Alcorn!
I went to a house concert in my neighbourhood last night to see Steve Poltz and Coco Love Alcorn. I had heard about Coco from the Halifax Jazz Festival last year, and checked out her music online, but when I heard about this opportunity to see her live and maybe even meet her, I jumped at the chance. She didn't disappoint with soulful sounds, clever songwriting and a voice that mezmerized everyone in the room. And I think she was holding back due to the small venue!
If you get a chance, she is worth the price of any admission and you shuld get your butt out to see one of her shows. She plays again in Halifax on may 31st at the Carlton downtown.
Why am I mentioning her on this site you ask? Well, I was drawn to her initially by her larger than life jazzy sounds, but I was particularly interested in her love for bicycles! She has a definite bicycle-centric theme going and even takes her beloved Fiori Modena bicycle with her on tour when she can.
I had the pleasure of speaking with her and asking where this love came from, and in the brief time we had to talk she explained that she uses a bicycle as her primary form of transportation and has developed quite a love affair with it.
